As many of you know, Visit Durango has received a TON of snow in recent weeks, with more than 60" having fallen so far this season. Our friends at Purgatory Resort, located 20 minutes away, have already seen a whopping 194" as of today...with more on the way! Time is money in railroading. During the day, the crews did things that are not allowed today! One of those things, was coupling the caboose on the fly, as trains were departing from Copper Flat. Thirty loaded ore trains, a day, left the copper mine headed for the mill in McGill. It was a short trip of less than 30 miles. The railroad had six 4-wheel cabooses or bobbers as they were known.
